Dear Friend of Abingdon,
A year ago I took the reins as artistic director. In that short time, much has happened at our institution, as well as our nation at large. As I talk with my comrades in the arts, what seems to be clear is that this is not a time to turn inward. Now is a time for action. Our rapidly changing world needs new stories now more than ever.
This season you have many worthy causes to consider as you plan your end of year giving. I hope to add Abingdon to that list. For 23 years we have been dedicated to telling new stories. It’s what we do. It’s who we are. And as we embark on our most ambitious season to date, we need your help.
In return, we promise to stretch your donation to its fullest. In addition to supporting our mainstage productions, your contribution will go toward new ancillary programs. In the past four months alone we’ve expanded our education initiative by hiring an outreach associate, welcomed two emerging playwrights into our inaugural residency program, launched a musical theatre lab showcasing new work from the next generation of artists, introduced a reading series with work by award-winning & nationally recognized playwrights, and extended our programming by adding an “immediate theatre” series on our second stage.
Much more is planned, but we can’t do it without you. Any amount makes an impact. Your ongoing financial support and belief in what we do inspires us to bravely continue our mission. Thank you for being part of the collaboration.
Here’s to many more shared experiences.
